ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Terrance Carter and Pierre Curtis each had double-doubles as James Madison snapped a six-game losing streak with a 70-66 victory over New Jersey Tech in the consolation game of the UCF Holiday Classic on Saturday.
Carter scored a career-high 23 points to lead all scorers and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Curtis added 13 points and had a career-high 10 assists for the Dukes (3-8).
The Highlanders (2-11) lost their 11th-straight game despite cutting a 10-point halftime deficit down to one late in the second half.
Kraig Peters was fouled on a three pointer with 14 seconds to play with his team trailing 67-64, but the junior only converted two of his attempts. James Madison guard Joe Posey made one of his two foul shots to give the Dukes a 68-66 lead, giving the Highlanders had a chance to win on a three pointer by Clayton Barker. But his attempt went long. Posey then sealed the game with two free throws.
Posey and Juwann James each scored 14 points for the Dukes. Peters led the Highlanders with 20 points, while Barker added 12.
