GREELEY, Colo. (AP) -- Haron Hargrave scored 22 points and Alex Bausley added 15 points and eight rebounds as Sacramento State ended a three-game losing streak with a 74-70 victory over struggling Northern Colorado Saturday night.
Loren Leath also had 14 points for Sacramento State (6-8, 1-1 Big Sky), which had lost six consecutive road games and six straight conference games before beating Northern Colorado.Sacramento State hit six 3-pointers to extend its streak of consecutive games with at least one 3-pointer to 361.Kirk Archibeque had a season-high 24 points to go with seven rebounds to lead Northern Colorado (2-12, 0-2). Sean Taibi had three 3-pointers for the Bears, losers of four straight.Archibeque scored Northern Colorado's first eight points of the second half, but Hargrave had two 3-pointers as Sacramento State maintained a 49-40 lead five minutes into the period. Alonzo Young's layup and free throw made it 54-47 before UNC's Taibi scored the next seven points to tie it at 54.Leath buried three jumpers and two free throws over a three-minute stretch to put Sacramento State up 67-61, but Darren Moore accounted for four of the next five points to pull Northern Colorado within 67-66 with 4:05 remaining. Two free throws by Hargrave and three by Bausley made it 72-69 before Justin Williams' dunk sealed the game with nine seconds left.Sacramento State used a 17-4 run and a suffocating man defense to lead 40-32 at the half.
