CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) -- Will Gant made two free throws with no time remaining to give Howard a 68-67 win over Western Illinois in the consolation game of the Islander Classic on Saturday night.

Gant was fouled on a last-second 3-point attempt with the Bison (6-8) trailing by one. He missed his first free throw, but made the next two to win the game. They were his only free throws of the game.

Gant, one of five Bison to score in double figures, led Howard with 14 points. Paul Kirkpatrick and Darek Mitchell each scored 12. Jeron Smith and Darryl Hudson each scored 11 points.

Hudson and Kirkpatrick led Howard with seven rebounds apiece.

Jerryck Owens-Murrey had a game-high 17 points and eight rebounds for the Leathernecks (4-9). Sammy Hunter added 14 points and seven rebounds. Troy Okeson scored 12 and Xavier Price added 11.
