WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) -- Jhamar Youngblood had a game-high 20 points -- one of four Monmouth players in double figures -- as the Hawks beat Loyola Marymount 81-53 on Sunday.
Dejan Delic added 17 points for Monmouth (5-8), while Whitney Coleman had 15 and Marques Alston scored 13 points. The Hawks also had a dominant day on defense as the Lions hit just 34 percent of their shots and committed 21 turnovers.
Monmouth, which hit 57 percent of its shots -- including eight of its first nine shots -- led for most of the game but only held a 33-28 lead at the break. Jon Ziri then opened the second half with a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 33-31, but Monmouth then put the game away with a 24-0 run featuring fast break dunks by Coleman and Delic.
Loyola Marymount did win the battle of the boards, outrebounding Monmouth 32-30.
