HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) -- Pierre Curtis had eight of his 19
points from the free-throw line as James Madison beat Delaware
62-47 Wednesday night.
Curtis sank 8 of 10 free throws and was a perfect 3 of 3 from
Curtis and Juwann James had back-to-back dunks as James Madison
(4-8, 1-1 Colonial Athletic Association) opened the second half
with a 10-0 run that put the Dukes up 39-22.
The Dukes used free-throw shooting to maintain their lead, with
Curtis sinking 6 of 8 in the final six minutes and James Madison
only hitting one more field goal -- another 3-pointer by Posey, who
finished with four.
James hit two jumpers and a free throw to give the Dukes an
early 5-0 lead. Posey's 3-pointer capped off a 14-4 run that put
James Madison up 23-11 with 6:09 remaining in the half. The Blue
Hens answered with an 11-6 run to come to within 29-22 at the
James finished with 13 and Posey added 12 for the Dukes, who
shot 46.5 percent on the night compared to 35 percent shooting for
Courtney was the only Delaware player scoring in double figures,
finishing with 25, including 10 from the free-throw line.
