The Pride took control in the second overtime, gaining an 11-point lead -- the largest gap of the game -- and outscoring the Seahawks (3-8, 0-2 Colonial Athletic Association) 15-4.
Stokes grabbed 10 rebounds and Carlos Rivera chipped in 16 points for Hofstra (9-4, 2-0 CAA).
The Pride sealed the win by making 5-of-6 free throws in the final minute.
The Seahawks took an early lead and led 34-31 at halftime. Daniel Fountain and Vladimir Kuljanin came off the bench to lead UNC Wilmington with 16 points apiece. Jeff Horowitz added 14, and Temi Soyebo had 10.
Soyebo's layup with 30 seconds left in regulation set up the first overtime putting the score at 61-61, with Hofstra's Stokes missing on a floater in the lane with one and a half seconds to go.
