PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Lee Cummard scored 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds and Brigham Young defeated San Diego State 80-58 Saturday.

Rashaun Broadus scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half and Trent Plaisted added 13 points and a career-high six blocked shots for the Cougars (11-4, 1-0 Mountain West). BYU has won six in a row and 24 straight at home.

The Cougars outrebounded the Aztecs 43-28.

San Diego State (11-5), which swept the Mountain West regular season and tournament titles last year, is 0-2 in the league. The Aztecs shot only 40 percent for the game and missed 13 of 27 free throws.

Brandon Heath led the Aztecs with 13 points, seven under his season average. Mohamed Abukar was the only other Aztec in double figures with 12 points.

BYU broke a 13-all tie with a 22-10 run late in the first half and never trailed after that.

San Diego State was within 56-43 with 10:14 remaining in the game when BYU scored 10 straight, capped by Austin Ainge's 3-pointer with 6:35 to play to put the game out of reach.
