RUSTON, La. (AP) -- Trey McDowell scored 22 points and had six
rebounds as Louisiana Tech edged past Hawaii 70-67 in a Western
Athletic Conference game Saturday night.
Hawaii (9-6, 0-2) struck first in the opening half and added
seven more points before Harry Disy scored Louisiana Tech's first
points with just over 15 minutes to go, cutting the Warriors' lead
to 9-2. Tech (4-10, 2-0) ran off six points in a row before Hawaii
scored again.With 8:15 on the clock in the first half, the Warriors scored
eight unanswered points to take a 22-10 lead but were up by just
one point, 31-30, at halftime.In the first six minutes of the second half, Tech took the lead,
outscoring Hawaii 12-8 for a 42-39 score. The Bulldogs continued to
add to their lead and get the win on 53.3 percent shooting in the
second half.Chad McKenzie added 18 points for the Bulldogs and Disy finished
the night with 11.Ahmet Gueye led the Warriors with 18 points, while Matt Lojeski
had 16 and Dominic Waters added 12.
