William & Mary 60, Northeastern 57

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) -- Adam Payton sank four free throws in the final 22 seconds Saturday to lift William & Mary to a 60-57 victory over Northeastern.

Adrian Martinez hit a 3-pointer to give Northeastern a 57-51 lead with 2:42 left, but the Tribe (9-4, 2-1 Colonial Athletic Association) closed with a 9-0 run to extend their winning streak to six.

David Schneider started the run with a 3-pointer. Laimis Kisielius and Schenider each went 1-for-2 from the line before Payton hit a pair to put William & Mary ahead 58-57 with 22 seconds left.

Martinez missed a 3-pointer with four seconds left. Northeastern (3-11, 1-2) promptly fouled Payton, who hit both free throws to seal the victory.

Payton finished with 15 points and Schneider with 13.

Bobby Kelly led Northeaster with 17 points. Bennet Davis added 10.
