WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) -- Adam Payton sank four free throws in the final 22 seconds Saturday to lift William & Mary to a 60-57 victory over Northeastern.
Adrian Martinez hit a 3-pointer to give Northeastern a 57-51 lead with 2:42 left, but the Tribe (9-4, 2-1 Colonial Athletic Association) closed with a 9-0 run to extend their winning streak to six.David Schneider started the run with a 3-pointer. Laimis Kisielius and Schenider each went 1-for-2 from the line before Payton hit a pair to put William & Mary ahead 58-57 with 22 seconds left.Martinez missed a 3-pointer with four seconds left. Northeastern (3-11, 1-2) promptly fouled Payton, who hit both free throws to seal the victory.Payton finished with 15 points and Schneider with 13.Bobby Kelly led Northeaster with 17 points.
