Holy Cross 66, Army 42

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) -- Keith Simmons scored 18 points to propel
Holy Cross to a 66-42 victory over Army in Patriot League play on
Tuesday night.

Fourteen of Simmons' points came in a decisive 28-6 run in the
first half.

Jarell Brown scored 10 points to pace Army (10-7, 0-2). However,
Brown was held well below his league-leading scoring average of
18.2 point per game.

There were five ties and 14 lead changes in the first half, when
Brown and Kenny Brewer (6 points) combined for 14 points. Simmons,
second in league scoring with 17.8 points per game, had a 3-point
goal, a free throw and an assist to Tim Clifford for a slam dunk
that gave the Crusaders a 27-23 halftime lead.

Holy Cross (11-6, 2-0) extended its run in the second half
behind Simmons and Torey Thomas (16 points). Matt Bell of Army
scored seven straight points, including a 3-pointer, but Pat
Dohrerty and Simmons scored to give the Crusaders an insurmountable
52-34 lead with 8:47 left. Army could draw no closer.
