Columbia 64, Princeton 56

NEW YORK (AP) -- Mack Montgomery scored five points in Columbia's late 9-0 run and the Lions held off Princeton 64-56 on Friday night in the Ivy League opener for both teams.

Princeton (9-5) trailed 33-23 at the half, but used a 21-6 run -- capped by Lincoln Gunn's 3-pointer -- to take a 47-44 lead with 8:23 to go.

After the teams traded baskets for a 49-49 tie, Brett Loscalzo hit a 3-pointer, Montgomery followed with another and then made two free throws to put the Lions (10-5) in front 57-49. Patrick Foley added a single foul shot to complete the run.

Foley hit four more free throws, and Montgomery added two in the final 1:03.

Montgomery, Foley and Ben Nwachukwu each scored 11 points for Columbia, while John Baumann had 10. Mike Strittmatter and Gunn had 13 apiece for Princeton and Justin Conway added 11.
