Delaware 77, William & Mary 62


NEWARK, Del. (AP) -- Herb Courtney got his third double-double of the season with 27 points and 11 rebounds for the Delaware Blue Hens, who defeated William & Mary Saturday 77-62.

Sam McMahon added 15 points with four 3-pointers, Calvin Cannon had 14 points and Darrell Johnson put in 11 for the Blue Hens (3-14, 1-5 Colonial Athletic Association).

Adam Payton scored 19 for the Tribe (10-6, 3-3 CAA), and Alex Smith came off the bench to add 16 points.

The Blue Hens had lost the last seven home games but led most of this game. They took control on a 9-2 run with about 13 minutes remaining. At halftime, they led 38-25 after making nine 3-pointers.

The Tribe never got closer than seven after Payton dunked early in the second half. With 10:44 left, the Hens went on a 12-4 run and they led by at least 14 the rest of the game.
