NORMAL, Ill. (AP) -- Blake Ahearn scored 17 points and Deven Mitchell came off the bench to add 14 as Missouri State beat Illinois State 75-66 Monday night.
Ahearn hit 6-of-9 overall, including three of the Bears' eight 3-pointers. Deven went 4-for-4 from the field and 5-for-9 from the free throw line for Missouri State (14-4, 5-2 Missouri Valley), which only added to its 32-29 halftime lead by shooting better than 68 percent after the break.
Levi Dyer led all scorers with 23 points for Illinois State (9-9, 1-6) on 8-for-13 shooting. Greg Dilligard was the team's only other player in double figures with 13 points.
The Redbirds managed 23 points off 17 Missouri State turnovers, but the Bears got 26 points from their bench compared to just six points by Illinois State's reserves.
Nathan Bilyeu and Tyler Chaney added 11 points apiece for Missouri State. Bilyeu did most of his scoring from the free throw line, going 7-for-10, and grabbed a game-high six rebounds.
