BALTIMORE (AP) -- Gary Neal scored nearly half of Towson's points, and Towson defeated Loyola, Md., 70-62 Monday night.
Besides scoring 33 points, Neal grabbed four rebounds for Towson (8-9). He scored 10 of the Tigers' first 16 points, making three of four field goal attempts and all four free throws.
Towson led 30-18 before the Greyhounds scored 10 straight points, including a pair of three-point baskets by Marquis Sullivan, to cut the margin to 30-28 with 1:40 remaining in the period.
But a three-pointer and two free throws put Towson ahead, 34-34 at halftime.
In the second half, Loyola (9-7) closed to within 63-59, but the Tigers hit six straight free throws.
Gerald Brown scored a team-high 26 points for Loyola.
