BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- Chris Davis scored 25 points and Geri Guillory added 15 more as Southern University held on for a 72-64 Southwestern Athletic Conference win over Mississippi Valley State on Monday night.
Both Davis and Guillory were 2-of-3 from 3-point range and each missed just one free throw on the night. They were the only Southern players to score in double figures.Mississippi Valley State (6-11) led by one at the half, 32-31, and its bench outscored the Jaguars 36-17. But Southern (4-14) had 15 second-chance points compared to just 10 for MVSU and the Jaguars got 13 points off turnovers which proved to be the difference in the game.Jeffrey Price paced MVSU with 12 points, while Stanford Speech added 11 and Tychicus Snow had 10.
