LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) -- Mario Sisinni made a tiebreaking free throw with 9 seconds left and Joseph Harris made another after rebounding Sisinni's miss Monday night, lifting Coastal Carolina to a 99-97 victory against Virginia Military Institute.
The Chanticleers (10-7, 3-1 Big South) led by 11 at halftime and by as many as 15 in the second half, but the Keydets (7-12, 1-3) rallied to take a 92-91 lead on a dunk by
Chavis Holmes with 2:18 left. A 3-pointer by Holmes tied it again at 97 with 1:03 left.
Harris led Coastal Carolina with 31 points and 11 rebounds,
Joshua Mack scored 19 and
Jack Leasure had 17. The Chanticleers won in spite of turning the ball over 27 times.
Fred Robinson led VMI with 25 points,
Reggie Williams had 19 and Holmes had 18.
