Reed powers Maine over UMBC; Hodges' 26 points not enough

ORONO, Maine (AP) -- Kevin Reed scored 13 of his 18 points in the second half to lead Maine to a 70-56 victory over Maryland-Baltimore County on Tuesday night.

The Black Bears (7-11, 2-4 America East) used a 17-4 run midway through the second half to take their biggest lead, 61-39.

Brian Hodges scored 26 points for UMBC (6-12, 2-3) but was held without a field goal over the final 10 minutes. Thomas Young added 13 points for the Retrievers.

Jon Sheets scored 11 of his 17 points in the first half for the Black Bears, who led 37-28 at halftime.
