Hofstra 79, Towson 74

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) -- Antoine Agudio made a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 53 seconds to play and Hofstra went on to beat Towson 79-74 on Thursday night.

Agudio, who connected on 9 of 16 shots -- including six 3-pointers -- finished with 26 points for the Pride (13-5, 6-1 Colonial Conference). Loren Stokes added 25 points and Carlos Rivera had 14.

Gary Neal scored 31 points for the Tigers (8-10, 2-5) and was 11-for-19 from the field. Jonathan Pease and Dennard Abraham each had 16 points, and Tommy Breaux scored 11 for Towson.

Pease tied the score for the fifth time in the second half on a jumper with 1:32 left that made it 72-72.

Agudio scored five points in a 10-3 run that gave Hofstra 25-17 lead, its largest of the game, with 7:44 left in the first half. Towson went on a 17-3 run that made the score 34-32 late in the half, with Neal and Abraham each scoring six points.

Stokes made a jumper with 27 seconds to go to tie the score at 34-all at halftime.
