IRVINE, Calif. (AP) -- Frank Robinson made a 3-pointer with one second to play to give Cal State Fullerton a 71-68 victory over UC Irvine on Saturday night.
Bobby Brown led the Titans (14-4, 5-2 Big West Conference) with 17 points. Scott Cutley added 14 points and 12 rebounds and Robinson finished with 11 points as Fullerton earned its fourth victory in five games.
Fullerton held a 66-55 lead with 3:36 to play but Irvine used a 13-2 run to force a 68-68 tie on Awaji's driving layup with 14.5 seconds remaining.
On the Titans' ensuing possession, Brown dribbled the ball into the frontcourt and was almost fouled by Awaji before passing to Robinson, who made the winning basket from 21 feet on the left side.
Irvine built a 23-12 lead with 8:05 left in the first half, but Brown scored 11 points during an 18-4 run that gave Fullerton a 30-27 halftime lead. The Anteaters failed to score in the final 5:39 of the first half.
