CHENEY, Wash. (AP) -- Rodney Stuckey scored 31 points and keyed a second-half run that carried Eastern Washington to a 91-79 victory over Northern Colorado on Saturday night.
Stuckey had seven points and two assists during a 13-3 surge that saw the Eagles (10-10, 4-4 Big Sky) turn a 59-57 deficit into a 70-62 lead with 6:25 left against the Bears (3-17, 1-7).The loss was UNC's 30th straight on the road, including 0-11 this season.Dwayne Birden's 3-pointer pulled UNC to within 70-65 with 5:25 left, but Paul Butorac's bucket inside capped a 6-0 run that pushed the Eastern lead to 76-65 with four minutes left. The Bears never got closer than nine the rest of the way.EWU looked like it might pull away early, grabbing a 21-10 lead on Matt Penoncello's two free throws with 11:54 left. But the Bears answered with a 15-3 run to take their first lead, 25-24, with seven minutes left on Sean Taibi's 3-pointer.Taibi scored eight points and UNC shot 5-of-6 from the floor during the burst.Stuckey, a sophomore who has 11 30-point games in his career, had 20 points and four assists in the second half. He also finished with seven rebounds and five steals. Penoncello and Butorac each added 17 points.Taibi and Kirk Archibeque led the way for the Bears with 21 points apiece. Birden added 15.
