WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) -- Matt Bell hit three three-pointers and scored a team-high 16 points to lead Army to a 53-50 win over Navy on Sunday.
After ending the first half ahead 25-23, Army began the second half on a 12-4 run to open up a 37-27 advantage at the 14:47 mark. Bell scored eight of the Black Knights' points during the spurt, which gave Army its largest lead of the game.
The teams traded baskets until a three-point play by Sprink put Navy up 43-41 at 5:08. Bates scored Army's next six points to give Army a 47-43 lead that it would not relinquish.
A three-pointer by Sprink with six seconds to go brought Navy within two points of Army at 52-50. A Bell free throw increased Army's lead to 53-50 and Sprink's three-point attempt from the left wing clanged off the rim as the buzzer sounded.
Sprink finished with a game-high 19 points, while Torpercer added 11 points.
