AKRON, Ohio (AP) -- Romeo Travis scored 12 points, including a dunk in the second half that put Akron ahead to stay, as the Zips defeated Buffalo 66-59 on Sunday.
Cedrick Middleton also scored 12, and Nate Linhart and Nick Dials each had 11 for Akron (13-4, 4-1 Mid-American Conference).Akron led 30-28 at halftime and never trailed after Travis' dunk with 13:34 remaining. The Zips pulled away by scoring five straight points to take a 51-44 lead on a layup from Dials with 7:24 left.Buffalo (9-9, 1-4) got no closer than three the rest of the game.Yassin Idbihi led Buffalo with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Eric Moore added 15 points for the Bulls, who outrebounded Akron 40-25.The Zips scored 27 points off 20 Buffalo turnovers. Akron shot 48 percent (22-of-46), while holding the Bulls to 33 percent (18-of-54).
