ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- Reggie Williams scored 34 points to lead six VMI players in double digits Monday as the Keydets defeated UNC Asheville 102-97.

Travis Holmes added 17 points for the Keydets (9-12, 2-3 BSC), who held off a last-ditch Bulldog comeback to secure their first win against UNC Asheville since joining the Big South Conference three years ago.

Matt Murrer finished with 14 points, Chavis Holmes added 13, and Fred Robinson and Willie Bell scored 11 points apiece for VMI.

UNC Asheville (6-14, 2-4 BSC) took a 92-91 lead with four minutes left on Vincent James' two free throws, but VMI answered with an 8-0 run to take the lead for good. The Bulldogs cut the lead to 99-97 with 37 seconds left, but Williams was fouled and made 1-of-2 free throws and Murrer dunked for the final score.

The Bulldogs had a season-high 29 turnovers that VMI converted into 32 points. VMI turned over the ball just 11 times and had 19 steals.

Joey Harrell led five Bulldogs in double-digit scoring with a career-high 21 points. Freshman Sean Smith added a career-best 16 points, Vincent James chipped in 15 points, and K.J. Garland scored 14 points. Donovan Jones had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
