TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- Gary Neal scored 36 points, including the 2,000th of his career, and Towson routed Delaware 85-63 Wednesday night.
Dennard Abraham scored 17 points, C.C. Williams had a career-high 13 assists and Rodney Spruill added 10 points for the Tigers (10-10, 4-5 Colonial Athletic Association), who have won two straight and three of four. The victory gave Towson its first home-and-home sweep of the Blue Hens since 2001-02.
Neal, who exceeded 30 points for the seventh time this season, reached the 2,000-point plateau with a 3-pointer from the right wing with 2:57 left in the game. Neal scored 1,041 points during two years at La Salle before transferring to Towson before the 2005-06 season.
Towson scored 20 points off 15 Blue Hen turnovers.
Delaware turned the ball over on its first four possessions, failed to score until 5:50 had elapsed and allowed Towson to start the game on a 13-0 run featuring seven points by Abraham.
Neal scored seven unanswered points on a floater in the lane, a foul-line jumper and a left-wing 3-pointer for a 21-6 lead with 7:32 left in the opening half.
The Blue Hens hit only eight of 20 shots from the field in the first half, trailing 44-21 at halftime.
