TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- Gary Neal scored 36 points, including the 2,000th of his career, and Towson routed Delaware 85-63 Wednesday night.
Dennard Abraham scored 17 points, C.C. Williams had a career-high 13 assists and Rodney Spruill added 10 points for the Tigers (10-10, 4-5 Colonial Athletic Association), who have won two straight and three of four. The victory gave Towson its first home-and-home sweep of the Blue Hens since 2001-02.Herb Courtney had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Delaware (3-17, 1-8), which has dropped three straight and eight of nine. Sam McMahon added 14 points and Calvin Cannon 12.Neal, who exceeded 30 points for the seventh time this season, reached the 2,000-point plateau with a 3-pointer from the right wing with 2:57 left in the game. Neal scored 1,041 points during two years at La Salle before transferring to Towson before the 2005-06 season.Towson scored 20 points off 15 Blue Hen turnovers.Delaware turned the ball over on its first four possessions, failed to score until 5:50 had elapsed and allowed Towson to start the game on a 13-0 run featuring seven points by Abraham.Neal scored seven unanswered points on a floater in the lane, a foul-line jumper and a left-wing 3-pointer for a 21-6 lead with 7:32 left in the opening half.The Blue Hens hit only eight of 20 shots from the field in the first half, trailing 44-21 at halftime.
