DeKALB, Ill. (AP) -- Dru Joyce scored a game-high 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting that included four 3-pointers as Akron rolled over Northern Illinois 87-64 Wednesday night.
Cedrick Middleton came off the bench to add 15 points for the Zips (14-4, 5-1 Mid-American), while Jeremiah Wood and Romeo Travis chipped in a dozen points each. Wood also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds and Middleton led all players with six assists.
Northern Illinois (4-14, 1-5) was led by 13 points from Zach Pancratz, who was 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Reserve Bristan Kelly added 11 points for the Huskies.
Akron held a 35-26 advantage at halftime and only built on the lead, hitting 21-of-34, or nearly 62 percent, after the break. The Huskies did manage to outrebound the Zips 35-33 for the game.
