HANOVER, N.H. (AP) -- Alex Barnett scored 16 points and Jonathan Ball added 13 to help Dartmouth defeat Brown 56-52 on Friday.
Following a blocked shot by the Bears' Mark MacDonald with 25 seconds left in the game, Brown (6-12, 1-2 Ivy League), trailing 54-52, had a chance to tie. Dartmouth's (7-9, 2-1) defense stiffened and the Bears lost the ball out of bounds without getting off a shot. DeVon Mosley iced the game for the Big Green by connecting on two free throws with nine seconds remaining.Brown grabbed a 25-23 lead with 2:10 remaining in the first half on a three-point basket by Mark McAndrew. The Big Green scored the last six points of the half, including four points by Kurt Graeber, to pull ahead by a 29-25 lead.Dartmouth came out strong at the outset of the second half and led by as many as nine points, 46-37, on a three-point play by Alex Barnett with 9:48 left to play. The Bears pulled to within a point, 46-45, on two McAndrew free throws.Dartmouth built the lead back up to five points, 54-49, on a jump shot by Leon Pattman with 1:02 left. McAndrew's three-point basket drew the Bears to within a bucket of the Big Green, 54-52, with 55 seconds left.McAndrew scored a game-high 25 points, including 12-of-12 shooting from the free throw line.
