WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Kevin Reed scored 23 points as Maine survived a frenzied final seconds and beat Hartford 65-64 Saturday night.

Hartford missed three potential game-winning shots at the end of the game. Jaret Von Rosenberg's runner was off the mark. Brian Glowiak got the rebound but missed a 3-pointer from the top of the key with four seconds left. Von Rosenberg had another chance to win it, but he missed a fadeaway before the buzzer sounded.

Maine (10-11, 5-4 America East) picked up its fifth-straight win. Reed added a game-high nine rebounds, and Jon Sheets chipped in 15 points.

Von Rosenberg finished with a career-high 30 points and eight rebounds for Hartford (9-12, 3-6). Bo Taylor added 20 points and eight boards for the Hawks.

Maine went into halftime with a 40-27 lead after hitting 5-of-6 from the free throw line when Hartford compiled three technical fouls on one play in the final 15 seconds. The Black Bears had taken command with a 14-2 run earlier in the half.

The Hawks powered back in the middle of the second half, taking a 54-53 lead with 8:57 left following a 9-0 run featuring back-to-back 3-pointers by Von Rosenberg.

Maine had a 65-63 lead near the end of the game and Taylor had a chance to tie it at the foul line, but he missed one of the shots.
