TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Rome Sanders scored 18 points to help Florida A&M beat Delaware State 73-69 on Saturday.

FAMU (12-9, 7-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) shot 57 percent from the field, and outscored the Hornets 30-10 in the paint.

Sanders was 6-of-9 from the field, and 6-for-7 from the free throw line. Brian Greene added 17 and Leslie Robinson scored 12 for the Rattlers, who now sit only a half game back behind Delaware State in the MEAC standings.

FAMU sprinted out to a 21-9 lead, but Delaware State would claw back to make it 45-38 at halftime.

The Hornets stormed out to a six point lead midway through the second half, but FAMU answered with a 15-3 run to take control of the game. Jahsha Bluntt finished with a game high 28 points for Delaware State (12-7, 7-1 MEAC), but missed six of his last seven 3-point attempts. Roy Bright added 15 for the Hornets.

The loss snapped Delaware State's seven game win streak.
