AKRON, Ohio (AP) -- Romeo Travis scored a game-high 17 points and Akron held Western Michigan to a single point in the first 12 1/2 minutes as the Zips won 69-36 on Saturday.
Nick Dials added 12 points for Akron (15-4, 6-1 Mid-American Conference).
Western Michigan (9-11 and 4-3) was led by Shawntes Gary with 8 points.
Akron went ahead 12-1 with 13:41 to play in the first half on Quade Milum's two free throws before Western Michigan made its first basket, a layup by Gary with 12:39 left in the half.
Akron led 24-13 at halftime, with Western Michigan shooting 18 percent in the first half.
Milum widened Akron's lead to 40-21 with a layup with 14:34 to play.
Western Michigan, trailing 54-34, managed one basket in the final seven minutes, a Derek Fracalossi layup with 4:41 to play.
