MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) -- Kevin Kanaskie scored 18 points and Calvin O'Neil contributed 17 to help Middle Tennessee beat Louisiana-Lafayette 71-59 Saturday night.

Middle Tennessee (10-11, 6-5 Sun Belt Conference) led the Ragin' Cajuns by 27-26 at the half, but quickly pulled away from Louisiana-Lafayette in the second, scoring a total of 44 points.

The largest lead held by Louisiana-Lafayette (5-17, 3-9) was 2 points in the first half at 17:49.

Boosted by a total of 28 points in the paint during the game, the Blue Raiders led by as much as 17 in the second half.

Middle Tennessee's Kyle Young scored 10 points and grabbed 9 rebounds while Desmond Yates scored 13.

Ross Mouton was the Ragin' Cajuns highest scorer with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Elijah Millsap was close behind with 13 points and 7 rebounds.
