GRAMBLING, La. (AP) -- Standford Speech scored 28 points as Mississippi Valley State snapped Grambling State's two-game winning streak to take an 84-78 overtime win in a Southwestern Athletic Conference game on Monday.

MVSU (9-8 6-3 SWAC) never trailed in the first half as Speech and Jefferey Price had 31 points to guide the Delta Devils to a 41-30 halftime lead.

Grambling cut the deficit to 44-38 at the 15:35 mark of the second half. Over the next seven minutes, MVSU outscored the Tigers 23-10 to claim a 19-point lead, 67-48 with 8:50 remaining.

But Grambling (8-8, 6-3) roared back, going on a 21-2 run over the next six minutes and a 3-pointer by Andre Ratliff tied the contest at 69-69 with 1:34 left in the game.

MVSU's Ronald Alexander was fouled on the ensuing possession and nailed two free throws to put them ahead by two, 71-69, with less than a minute left. With 34 seconds remaining, Ratliff once again tied the game and Martez Stevens blocked Speech's potential game-winning lay-up to send it into overtime.

MVSU opened the extra period with a lay-up by Speech but Grambling got its first lead, 74-73, of the night after a 3-pointer from Kendric Baker. Tychicus Snow answered Baker's basket with a 3-pointer of his own to put the Delta Devils back ahead 76-74 and MVSU never looked back as they outscored Grambling 12-4 to record the victory.

Ratliff led Grambling with 31 points and five assists, while Anthony Williams recorded a double-double, getting 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Price finished with 15 points for MVSU, while Snow and Alexander each added 10.
