YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) -- Dru Joyce, Cedrick Middleton and Quade Milum each scored 13 points Wednesday and Akron pulled away late to win its seventh straight, 70-60 over Eastern Michigan.

The victory, the Zips' fifth straight against the Eagles, kept Akron (16-4, 7-1) alone in first place in the Mid-American Conference East Division.

Devon Dumes scored 12 points and James Matthews added 11 for the Eagles (8-13, 3-5 MAC West), who have lost four of their past five.

Ahead 49-48 with nine minutes to play, the Zips made six straight field goals and outscored Eastern Michigan 15-1 over the next four minutes to take control. Consecutive 3-pointers by Middleton and Joyce capped the run.

Akron led 39-25 at intermission but was 1-for-13 from the field in the first nine minutes of the second half. Eastern Michigan made a 21-8 run during that stretch and twice cut the lead to a point, but never overtook the Zips.

The Zips outscored Eastern Michigan 20-4 during a seven-minute stretch of the first half that saw them led by as many as 19 points.

Romeo Travis had 10 points for Akron before fouling out.
