BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) -- Freshman Brandon Johnson scored 16 points, including four 3-pointers, to tie his career high and lead the Montana State men's basketball team to an 84-67 victory over Eastern Washington on Thursday night.
Nick Dissly added 14 points and picked up three steals, and Carlos Taylor put up 14 points for the Bobcats.After 12 lead changes and nine ties in the first period, Johnson dropped two quick 3-pointers to put the Bobcats up by six going into intermission.Montana State (8-14, 5-4 Big Sky) persistently increased its lead in the second half, partly due to its 52.2 percent 3-point efficiency. Eastern Washington (11-12, 5-6) dropped just two of 14 3-pointers in the game.Eastern Washington was never able swing the momentum back in its direction. The Bobcats led by as much as 21 late in the second period.Montana State out-rebounded Eastern Washington 36 to 25 and put up eight fast-break points. Montana State's Carson Durr picked up the game's only double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.Rodney Stucky led the Eagles with 24 points, including 12 from the line on 100 percent free-throw shooting. Paul Butorac added 14 points for Eastern Washington.
