MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Andrew Hayles scored a game-high 13 points and Dustin Richmond added 10 to lift Alabama State to a 60-56 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday.
Alabama State (6-14, 5-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference) got off to a quick start, but Ark.-Pine Bluff (5-16, 3-7) wasn't far behind in a game that saw 12 tied scores and 10 lead changes.The Hornets led 28-25 at the half after shooting 39.1 percent from the field. The Golden Lions posted 35.3 percent from the same distance.Hayles and Richmond were the only Hornets to score in double digits. George Davis led Ark.-Pine Bluff with 12 points while William Byrd and Tim Hamilton each added 10.A good free throw shot from ASU's Tremayne Moorer tied the game at 52 with 3:40 left to play. Moorer missed the second shot, but Hayles scored a 3-pointer just over a minute later to put the Hornets ahead for good.Davis scored the Golden Lions' final four points of the game, including a jumper with one second left on the clock, but it wasn't enough.
