CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) -- Randall Gulina scored 20 points to lead Samford to a 53-48 win over Eastern Illinois on Saturday.
Samford (14-10, 11-4 Ohio Valley) used a 14-6 run over the final 11:09 of the first half to take a 29-17 lead into the locker room. The Bulldogs shot 52.4 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes, to 33.3 percent for Eastern Illinois.
The Panthers (7-17, 3-12 Ohio Valley) trailed throughout the second half and never came closer than four points, and that was with just 7 seconds remaining.
Jerry Smith scored 13 points to join Gulina in double figures for Samford.
