WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) -- Carl Landry and David Teague each scored 20 points and Purdue produced a record-tying defensive effort to beat Michigan State 62-38 on Wednesday night.
Purdue allowed 12 points in the second half to tie the school record for the fewest points allowed in a half. It was Michigan State's lowest point total of the season and the fewest points Purdue has allowed this season.Raymar Morgan led Michigan State with nine points. Drew Neitzel went in as the Big Ten's fourth-leading scorer with nearly 19 points per game, but he was held to a season-low five points on 2-for-11 shooting. He had scored in double figures for 23 consecutive games.Purdue (16-8, 5-5 Big Ten) forced 21 turnovers in the game and held the Spartans to 25 percent shooting in the second half.The teams entered the game in a three-way tie for sixth place. The game had added importance because it was their only scheduled meeting of the regular season.Michigan State (17-8, 4-6) has lost four straight games.Teague scored 18 points and made four 3-pointers in the second half to help Purdue improve to 13-1 at home.
