Drake 67, Northern Iowa 59

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) -- Josh Young scored 15 points and Ajay Calvin and Nick Grant each added 14 as Drake beat Northern Iowa 67-59 Thursday night.

Drake (13-12, 4-10 Missouri Valley) built a six-point halftime lead and led the entire second half, completing a season sweep of the Panthers and breaking a 12-game losing streak in Cedar Falls.

Northern Iowa (16-9, 7-7) struggled from the perimeter, shooting 38.5 percent from the floor in the first half and 1-for-12 on 3-point-attempts.

After leading by five points in the opening minutes of the game, the Panthers fell behind 28-22 at halftime and trailed by 10 after Grant hit a jumper with 16:59 left in the game.

Drake held off a couple late rallies from Northern Iowa, including a 3-pointer from Brooks McKowen that cut the Bulldogs' lead to 60-57 with 2:27 left. Klayton Korver answered with consecutive baskets to seal the win.

Grant Stout led the Panthers with 17 points, Eric Coleman scored 15 and McKowen added 13. Northern Iowa's bench was scoreless.
