HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) -- DeMario Anderson scored 31 points and Quinnipiac moved into second place in the Northeast Conference Thursday with a 79-75 win over Sacred Heart.
Anderson hit 11-of-13 shots for the Bobcats (11-11, 9-4 NEC), who have won nine of their last 10 games.
Adam Gonzalez added 20 points and four assists while
Dale Meinbresse scored nine points with five rebounds off the bench. Quinnipiac shot 54 percent from the floor.
Sacred Heart (11-12, 7-5), has lost four of its last five and fell to 5th place in the league.
Brice Brooks led the Pioneers with 19 points and seven rebounds.
Jarrid Frye added 18 points and seven rebounds.
Anderson's foul-line jumper gave the Bobcats the lead for good at 75-74 with 1:28 remaining in the game. Trailing three points, Sacred Heart had two chances to tie the game in the final 24 seconds but
Luke Granato and Jarrid Frye missed their 3-point attempts.
Anderson's previous high this season was 15 points, scored on Jan. 11 at Wagner. He fell one point shy of his career-best, scored against Quinnipiac in 2005 when he was attending Central Connecticut.
