WASHINGTON (AP) -- Roy Bright had 16 points and six rebounds as Delaware State continued its quest for a third consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference regular-season crown with a 59-40 victory over Howard on Saturday.
Will Gant had 12 points for Howard (8-16, 4-8) as the Bison ended a seven-game homestand.
The Bison, who shot 26.5 percent, went 9:23 without scoring and 11:56 without a field goal midway through the second half while the Hornets built a 23-point lead.
Bright's jumper capped Delaware State's 7-0 run for a 26-20 lead with 4:55 remaining in the first half. Bright scored Delaware State's last six points of the period and the Hornets led 30-22 at halftime.
Dominique Davis and Gant made consecutive 3-pointers during an 8-0 run that gave Howard a 17-14 lead midway through the first half.
