BALTIMORE (AP) -- Tywain McKee had 25 points on 9-of-12 shooting to help Coppin State defeat Norfolk State 77-70 on Saturday.
Mike Miller gave the Eagles (7-16, 5-6 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) a boost off the bench with 11 points.
Tony Murphy led the Spartans (8-14, 8-4 MEAC) with 26 points, and Michael DeLoach scored 13.
Coppin State was down 54-53 with just under 10 minutes to play, but Miller's 3-pointer with 9:08 left put the Eagles ahead. Miller added a pair of free throws to make it 58-54 with 8:43 left. Back-to-back layups by McKee gave the Eagles their largest lead of the second half.
Coppin State led 66-59 with 4:57 left, but Murphy scored six straight points to cut the lead to 67-65. The Eagles went 8-for-12 from the free-throw line in the last three minutes to put the game away.
