CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) -- Adam Leonard tied his career high with 22 points to lead Eastern Kentucky over Southeast Missouri State 66-61 Saturday.
Leonard's points included six 3-pointers and two crucial free throws to give the Colonels a 64-61 lead with 19 seconds remaining in the game.
Mike Rose scored 12 points for EKU, including two free throws in the final seconds for the final margin. Michael Brock added 13 for the Colonels, who secured a spot in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament at the end of the season.
Southeast Missouri made just eight of 16 free throws down the stretch.
Eastern Kentucky (15-9, 10-6 Ohio Valley) built a 16-5 lead 5 minutes into the game but Southeast Missouri (10-16, 8-9) countered with a 27-11 run to grab a 32-27 lead at the break.
Eastern Kentucky did not make a field goal in the final seven minutes of the first half.
