AKRON, Ohio (AP) -- Dru Joyce scored 15 points to lead a balanced attack that gave Akron a 79-48 victory over Ohio on Tuesday night.
Cedrick Middleton added 13 points, Jeremiah Wood had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Nate Linhart scored 11 for the Zips (19-5, 10-2 Mid-American), who made 10 of 27 3-pointers while Ohio went 4-for-14 on 3s.
Akron shot 48 percent (30-for-62) for the game, to 34 percent (16-for-47) for Ohio. The Zips outplayed the Bobcats on every level, outrebounding them 40-27, leading 18-9 in assists and outscoring Ohio 36-18 in the paint, 27-8 in points off turnovers and 17-6 on second-chance points.
The Zips jumped out early to a 22-6 lead and were up 42-26 at the half. Ohio did not score after two free throws by Troutman with 2:29 left.
