ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -- Takais Brown came off the bench to score 16 points and Georgia rallied to beat Kennesaw State 75-66 on Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs (15-9) took the lead for good at 64-62 on two free throws by Steve Newman with 3:06 to play.

Levi Stukes' 3-pointer with 1:30 left gave Georgia a 69-64 margin.

Georgia led 36-27 at the half. After a Stukes basket opened the second half, the Owls (11-17) scored eight straight points to close the gap to 38-35 on a baseline drive by Ronell Wooten. That was the first of 15 straight points he scored for the Owls as they overtook Georgia for the first time at 47-45 with 13:58 to go.

The Owls led by six as late as 6:39 after an alley-oop dunk by Jonathan Whipple. But Kennesaw State scored only one more field goal the rest of the game.

Georgia was playing without starting guard Mike Mercer, who was lost for the season after dislocating his right knee at South Carolina on Saturday. Surgery is planned to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Wooten scored 25 points to lead Kennesaw State.
