Tulane 86, UCF 80

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Chris Moore scored 22 points and David Gomez added 15 to help Tulane defeat Central Florida 86-80 on Wednesday night.

Kevin Sims and Daniel Puckett each scored 11 points for the Green Wave (12-11, 5-6 Conference USA), which came back from a 40-32 halftime deficit.

Donnie Stith's layup capped a 15-5 run late in the second half that put Tulane up for good at 72-62. UCF (18-7, 7-4) never trimmed its deficit below five points after that.

Lavell Payne led UCF with 23 points, while Josh Peppers scored 21 and Dave Noel 15.

Tulane outshot UCF from the field, 55.6 percent to 46.8 percent. The Wave hit 7-of-14 3-pointers. UCF also hit seven 3-pointers, but attempted 21.

Andrew Garcia had nine points and seven assists for Tulane.
