Boston U. 68, Stony Brook 55

BOSTON (AP)-Tyler Morris scored 19 points, Carlos Strong added 14 and Boston University held Stony Brook to two field goals over the final 11:31 Thursday night to cruise to a 68-55 victory.

BU (11-14, 8-5 America East) won for the eighth time in the last 12 games and has almost locked up at least a No. 3 seed in next month's conference tournament. A Terrier win Sunday at Maryland-Baltimore County would secure that spot for BU for the second straight season.

The first two rounds of the America East tournament will be played at BU's Agganis Arena.

Stony Brook (8-17, 3-10) shot just .327 from the floor and lost for the sixth time in seven games. The Seawolves were led by Ricky Lucas, who scored 17, and Mitchell Beauford, who had 12.

BU trailed only once, 2-0, before taking a nine-point lead at the break. The Terriers were ahead 42-37 with 11:31 left before going on a 12-2 run that broke the game open.

Morris hit his first four shots from 3-point range and finished 4-for-6 from behind the arc as BU won for the sixth time in seven conference home games.
