PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) -- Ryan Wittman scored 20 points and Cornell held off a late Princeton rally to post a 57-50 victory on Friday night.
Louis Dale added 13 points and Andrew Naeve finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Big Red (14-9, 7-2 in Ivy League), who won for the seventh time in eight games despite shooting just 37.1 percent from the floor.
Cornell was in command early on, leading by as much as 16 points. However, they went cold after the break, scoring just seven points in the first 16:22 of the second half, including a scoreless stretch that lasted 8:26.
That allowed Princeton to gain ground and cut the lead to 43-39, but they wouldn't get any closer because Cornell went 9-for-10 from the free throw line over the final 2:19 to seal the win.
Princeton, which leads the nation in scoring defense but also is last in scoring offense, is 1-7 in Ivy League play for the first time in its history. Cornell is 7-2 for the first time since 1987-88, when it was the last team besides Penn or Princeton to win the league title.
