SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) -- Senior forward Derek Stockalper hit a school-record nine 3-pointers and Titus Shelton added a career-high 20 points as Cal Poly beat Portland State 92-87 in a Saturday Bracket Buster game.

The non-conference win was the Mustangs' eighth in 10 games.

Stockalper was 9-of-14 from 3-point range, finishing with a career-high 37 points. His ninth 3-pointer, with 11 minutes to go, broke the school record of eight matched by three other Mustangs.

Guards Trae Clark and Dawin Whiten sealed it with four free throws over the final 14.5 seconds.

Cal Poly (14-10) shot 48.5 percent and committed just nine turnovers.

The Mustangs, who were 14 of 35 from beyond the arc, have hit 14 or more 3-pointers in three straight games.

Portland State, which shot 52.4 percent and also had nine turnovers, was led by Paul Hafford's 23 points off the bench.

Dupree Lucas added 18 points and Juma Kamara finished with 15 for the Vikings (16-11).
