DENTON, Texas (AP) -- Ryan Wedel and Isaac Wells led Arkansas State with 18 points each and the Indians overcame an 11-point halftime deficit to beat North Texas 74-71 on Thursday night.
North Texas led by as many as 14 points in the first half and took a 40-29 into halftime.
But Arkansas State (15-14, 10-7 Sun Belt) started the second half with a 24-13 run capped by a pair of Wedel 3-pointers that put the Indians up 56-53.
Kendrick Davis put North Texas (18-10, 9-8) back up 63-61 with a jumper at 2:45. North Texas added another point but then the Indians went on an 8-0 run to take a decisive 69-64 lead with 40 seconds left.
Arkansas State held off the Mean Green by going 5-for-5 from the free-throw line in the game's final seconds.
Adrian Banks added 14 points for Arkansas State and
Jim Jones had 10. Wells and Banks each had seven rebounds.
Calvin Watson led North Texas with 26 points, Davis had 14 and
Keith Wooden had 10.
Arkansas State shot 47 percent from the field for the game, improving from 31 percent in the first half to 70 percent in the second. North Texas shot 39 percent from the field.
North Texas outrebounded the Indians 42-31.
