Virginia Commonwealth 72, Georgia St. 70

ATLANTA (AP) -- Jesse Pellot-Rosa made a follow-up shot and a free throw with three seconds left and Virginia Commonwealth beat Georgia State 72-70 to claim the Colonial Athletic Association regular-season title Saturday.

The Rams (24-6, 16-2 CAA) took a 69-67 lead in the second half when Michael Anderson made his first free throw. After Anderson missed his second one, Pellot-Rosa follwed with a three-point play to put VCU up for good.

Leonard Mendez made a 3-pointer at the buzzer for Georgia State (10-19, 5-13).

Eric Maynor scored 16 points and had 10 assists, while Wil Fameni also had 16 points and nine rebounds for the Rams. Pellot-Rosa added 15 points.
