PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) -- William Byrd, with 16 points, was the only player for Arkansas-Pine Bluff to score more than 10 points, but that was all the Golden Lions needed Monday night to get a 59-54 win over Jackson State.

Jackson State (16-14, 10-6 Southwestern Athletic Conference) led 27-23 at the half, but UAPB (11-17, 9-8) shut down the visitors' ouside game after intermission, when the Tigers made only 1-of-8 shots from 3-point range.

Trey Johnson of Jackson State led all scorers with 19 points. Kay Martinez added 14 points for the Tigers, and Darrison Griffin scored 11.

UAPB's Jason Frierson scored no points in 24 minutes on the floor, but pulled down 10 rebounds for the Golden Lions and was credited with four assists.
